What am I overlooking?

Go to solution Solved by Whaler_99,

Windows 7 - there are a lot of hidden files probably not being accounted for. Pagefile, hyberfile.sys, winsx dir, etc. Still, does seem like quite the difference.

Running TreeSize should help find it

Make sure windows is configure to show hidden and system files.

Can't think of anything straight off the bat because thats quite a difference....

Space sniffer should be able to map out your drive and easily show you whats causing such a huge difference, whether 1 big hidden file is taking it all or many tiny files.

Download that and take a look, screenshot it and post here if your not sure if you should delete it or not, or if you have any questions/answers after this.

System files would be it, just playing around with 64 gigs of ram; pagefile and hiberfil are out of control. Thanks both of you.

Oh you have 64GB of ram, yeah no doubt Hibernation and pagefile.. I would have mentioned that before but with such a huge difference and me thinking you had 8GB (usual fare) didn't lead me to that instantly.

You can open an elevated command prompt and type "powercfg -h off" and that will get rid of the hibernation file.
