GTX 780 Benchmarks [Update 23/05: ~27% Faster than 680, ~8% Slower than Titan]

DalekDoc

Expreview scores (newest on 23/05) - http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/17213-gtx-780-benchmarks-20-faster-than-680-15-slower-than-titan/page-3#entry220296

Chiphell forums have posted images which allegedly represent the benchmark scores for the upcoming GTX 780.

Source:http://www.chiphell.com/thread-750609-1-1.html

It seems its about 20% faster than a GTX 680 and anywhere between 10-15% slower than a GTX Titan..

Note: The second column is the 780, the last two columns are it compared to a Titan and 680

The 600 series of cards was exciting last year, but with the release of Titan, the 700 series really isn't exhilarating for me.

Waiting for the 800series for multi monitors  ^_^

If I were in the market to buy a new high end graphics card (in the near future), I'd wait for the AMD 9000 series: die shrink (20nm) + new architecture + game bundles = massive performance increase, which you can immediately use on your new games.

(Not being a fanboy here, I currently have a GTX 570 and that thing is just a beast)

Cooler Master 690 II Advanced - I5 2500K @ 4.5Ghz - Geil Enhance Plus 1750Mhz 8Gb - ASUS ENGTX 570 DCUII - MSI Z68aGD65 - Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B - Samsung 830 128gb and Crucial m4 128gb - much other stuff not worth mentioning

AMD are predicting a doubling in performance instead of a 20% increase. it's happened before, so it's not out of the question. TBH I'd be happy with half of their expected performance increases. it'd beat the 780 and rival the titan, all at a chaper price than either of them (hopefully cheaper, this is my next upgrade :P)

Daily Driver:

Case: Red Prodigy CPU: i5 3570K @ 4.3 GHZ GPU: Powercolor PCS+ 290x @1100 mhz MOBO: Asus P8Z77-I CPU Cooler: NZXT x40 RAM: 8GB 2133mhz AMD Gamer series Storage: A 1TB WD Blue, a 500GB WD Blue, a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Quite possible! With 20nm process they could squeeze a hell lot more performance into these 9000 cards, and they probably would, for preparation of Nvidia's 800 series which will come up mid-2014

I share everybody's sentiment when I say that these results feel a bit bit lackluster especially for a chip that was supposed to be a cut down titan. However, I would advise taking these results with two or three grains of salt.

The 9970 specs already suggest a 100% performance increase since the card has twice as many cores as the 7970, putting it in the performance level of the 7990 & 690, faster than the Titan.
The new architecture is also very exciting & marks the first CPU integration into a graphics card ever.
The more we move forward the more CPUs move in the direction of GPUs, & GPUs move in the direction of CPUs.

AMD did say that BF4 will be bundled with upcoming cards, so maybe around October ? you have to be realistic here, a single GPU card with a performance level greater than Titan cannot possibly cost 2 and a half times less than Titan.

It only makes sense, I mean, the 600 series was a new architecture.  This isn't.  The most drastic change from 600 to 700 is the reference cooler, really.

400 to 500 was only big because Nvidia kinda screwed up the 400 series in terms of heat and power consumption.  Otherwise that was the same kind of change.

But anyway, funny how this has already turned into an AMD thread.

Nvidia will likely dominate 2013 with the 700 series, but let's see whether they can match AMD when Volcanic Islands hits at the year's end.

I wonder how much the price of the GTX 680 will lower when the GTX 780 comes out...

In any thread where there's speculation you will find the opposite side of the graphics world getting a mention.

The 770 is more or less an overclocked 680, so probably around 400$.

So what would you recommend for triple monitor: 2x 680's (800-900 euro) or a Titan (1000 euro)?

Depending on the pricing of the 700 series, I'd probably recommend two 4GB 770s.

Depends on how much the 770 will be of course...

The 4GB 770 should cost around 450$ according to various sources.

And how about AMD?

YES :D

7970 is cheap now cost $400 ghz edition $450

so i say 9970 be around $400~470

then amd will make me switch from nvidia to them...(after 2 years i will switch back xD )
