What do you guys think? I was thinking about maybe changing the case.

The build will be used for video editing in After Effects and Premiere Pro as well as gaming. (I will upgrade to 16gb RAM later on)

Budget - £900

Also, the PSU is actually the CS650M not the CX750M as they didn't have it on the PC PartPicker site -> http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-corsair-cs650m-hybrid-modular-80-plus-gold-1x120mm-atx-v292-psu

Thanks,

looks fine two things

i'm guessing that the single 8gb dim is because of 16gb later but id say get the 16gb at the same time so you don't have to go through mix matching ram

why the non ocing cpu and a ocing motherboard? or do you intend to oc and the  k version isn't listed if so get a after market cooler some time otherwise save yourself some money and get a h97 motherboard

Gaming, Video Editing..?

The rig is great, but I don't think that 250GB really is enough.

You should also get something like a 1TB or 2TB hard drive (WD Black, WD Blue or Seagate Barracuda)

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Yeah, I will be getting a large capacity hard drive later on but for the start I will just use an external 500gb hard drive I have.

Ah ok yeah, are there any H97 boards with the same amount of features and ports like the Z97M? And also, why would mix matching be a problem if I bought the same single 8gb stick?

Hi,

Your build looks pretty good! There aren't many things that I would change. However I can give you various tips on what I would do.

Regarding the chassis, if portability is important to you, then you can stick with that case, however if you arent planning on moving it around, then I'd recommend an ATX case such as define r4 by fractal. It offers silent operation and you will probably benefit from it since you are using your computer as a kind of workstation. In addition, it has better airflow which is vital for gaming. There are many cases so I wont go into that.

For the GPU, I personally would go for either EVGA due to their superior warranty, or ASUS because they use high quality components. Not that MSI are bad, but it doesn't seem to be of the standard of ASUS or EVGA. In your case, I'd go ASUS, because EVGA is a little more expensive. I'll put a link to it  below. Have you considered AMD though? The r9 280x is also available by ASUS. It provides a GB more VRAM too.

Good that you went with an 80plus Gold PSU!

RAM maybe could be 1866MHz? You will benefit in editing. 1600MHz will still do the job though.

With the motherboard it's the same case as with the GPU's. MSI are OK, but ASUS tend to be better in my opinion. You could go with the ASUS Maximus VII Ranger in a large chassis or a Mavimus VII Gene in a small one. both of these motherboards are Z97, have brilliant quality (I own one), and in my view, pack alot more features than the MSI.

All in all, I would change to the following:

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Ranger/Gene

GPU: ASUS GTX 770 direct cu ii

Chassis: Fractal define r4? Also available in mini size.

I'm sure the rig will turn out well! Good luck!
