Without the dlcs intalled, you can play the whole game including the dlc weapons, but only on vanilla maps.

My friend is reinstalling battlefield 3 and his internet is terrible. We want to play as soon as he has installed the patch, but he also has premium and needs to download the extra content packs. Will he able to play with the premium weapons/maps etc without having the content packs installed? And would anything mess up the account if he were to try to without having the packs installed?

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)
