Is Capping the FPS helpful or not?

GrantSor+1

If I limit my FPS in games lets say from a 80(min)-150(Max) FPS and Limit it to 60 or 70FPS
Would it reduce the LAG when Im getting from 80-150 FPS DROPS?

I Tried it at LoL but it doesn't do anything, so far LoL Is the only game I know and play that has a Framerate Cap Option

It's useful for people who don't like their frame rates jumping around above their monitors refresh rate without v sync. If your monitor is 60Hz, set the cap to 60 FPS for a more 'consistent' experience. You may have a higher refresh rate monitor, so set it higher in that case. Just using 60 fps as an example because it's most common.

-also, if your game can constantly handle your monitor's refresh rate without hiccups, capping the fps to your monitor's refresh rate is basically free v-sync without performance hits.

It stops the PC from maxing out to spit hundreds of frames into nowhere, saves on power and heat.

If you want the best response leave the fps unlocked. If you noice a lot of screen tearing then turn it on. It just depends on what you think looks best. Most people leave it off though.

i leave V sync on and turn off framerate cap, v sync is basically a cap as i take it but when playing games like League of Legends  450 frames causes MAJOR screen tearing and its just no good all around.
