Just ran said troubleshooter in compatibility mode...and it did literally nothing. It said there were errors with the windows audio service. Well freaking duh. Is there any way I can reinstall said audio services since the aforementioned troubleshooter apparently does not possess the capacity to search for the registry files?

do you have the pci express auxiliary connector plugged into the soundcard?

have you tried plugging it into a different pci express lane, any pcie lane works all the way through x16.

in device manager is it recognized?

-when you click properties in device manager does it have any issues listed?

do you have the latest ASUS drivers installed?

have/can you test it in another system?

do you have graphics card audio drivers installed?if so try uninstalling them.

are you using the front panel audio or the rear io audio?if it's the front panel do you have the front io header plugged into the soundcard?

do you have the speakers power plugged in?

try using different speakers or headphones.

Is the service missing or not running? Are you sure it's missing?

If it is, then something broke Windows which deregistered the service. you can try sfc /scannow command line (run as admin), and restart the computer.

If that doesn't works, then use System Restore to go back in time your system to a point where it used to be there.

If not, re-install Windows.

If it's not running, then that's a completely different story, and it has to do with the drivers of the sound card. Usually the simple: Uninstall, restart, and Reinstall the latest drivers solves such problem. But, yes, do what mvitkun, suggest
