how to activate COD4 product key

My friend recently gave me this COD4 product key, but i cant redeem it on steam. does anyone know how i can redeem my copy of COD4 with only a product key?

maybe i havent elaborated myslef quite well. i dont have a CD, nor can i redeem the code on steam, all i have is a product key. is there any way to activate it?

Sounds like a retail key that came with the game DVD.

 

If that's what I had and I wanted to just play multiplayer then I would torrent the ISO and don't crack it just install and put your CD key in, the multiplayer part of the game doesn't need a CD it just needs a valid CD key to play online.

CoD4 has 2 version.

 

1. Steam version (has no key and is tied to your account)
2. Retail version (Comes with a CD key and Disc), if you don't have the disc you will need buy a disc or find a site that has the full version to download, and use your CD key.

If it is a retail key, give them a call. They will want you to send the key in and then you will get a steam key or something like that.

 

Or torrent the game and enter the code. (DISCLAIMER: PLEASE CONSULT A LAWYER BEFORE DOING SO!)

I just checked Ebay and there are loads of discs for sale and very cheap, just get one there.
