With haswell refresh and devils canyon, I'm going to swap over and upgrade my system.

I'm thinking of going with an i5. Maybe a 4590 or 4690. Have trouble deciding if the 4690 is worth the extra price.

There's also a small part of me that wants the 4690k, however with my current AMD CPU, I never actually overclocked it, and may never will with the devils canyon chip, so I may or may not get it.

tl;dr which is better from price/performance standpoint: 4590/4690. 4690k worth getting even though I might not overclock?

4690 would be a nice price/performance standpoint

may as well get the 4690k over the 4690, it is only £20 more plus even if you don't overclock straight away atleast you have the option too.

Or even the 4670k and get it cheaper as there is basically no difference between the two unlocked i5's

if you already have a decent aftermarket cooler you could go 4690k and, as you can also oc devilscanyon on non-z chipsets, get a cheaper h97 mb.

If you are not getting an unlocked processor get the 4690
