Hey Guys,

Just picked up a new phone and also my first Android phone. I'm wondering how to update the OS to a newer one, the current one is 2.3.6 Gingerbread or something.

I just got rid of one of those lol. It's actually a good phone. Surprisingly fast actually, since it only has a QVGA screen to power. The one I got wasn't with the carrier I use so I just used it as a media player and on Airplane mode damn that thing lasted a week and a half of daily usage on a charge.

What I did with mine was update it to 4.0.4 by installing CyanogenMod 9. Then overclocked it to 1GHz and did the SD merge so that I got 1GB of storage space to install apps rather then the 150MB or so that they give you normally.

There's really nothing wrong with Gingerbread though. It runs really quick on that phone.
