Hard Drive Mounting

Go to solution Solved by Ren,

Drill holes somewhere in a horizontal position and screw it in with proper fitting screws. Anti-vibration rubber grommets/fittings will help as well.

Drive cages really are only there for removable HDD arrays, the slots are the good things but only because of ease. As far as I'm concerned (and I'm pretty sure most would agree) it does not matter where you put a single HDD. For a WD Black, you might wanna put it near where there's airflow, though..

At least make sure your air circulation is good in your case and you don't mount it in a place where there's dead air. You should be all set.

I have been planing a build for a while and I need to mount a 4 GB WD Black drive somewhere in my case, however I want to use a swiftech h320 (though it says corsair h110 in the build, I need to change that) and this will require me to take out the hard drive cages, any suggestions as to how and where else I could mount the drive (I am sure someone has asked this before but I just couldn't find any other helpful posts).

Also I considered velcro, but I am just worried that that may damage the drive due to vibration and maybe even it falling off the velcro.

Lian-Li cases are really nice. This one in particular is awesome, but I don't know what the guy wants to do with it that prevents mounting his WD Black in a proper position.

Edit:

If you have a hack saw and some sandpaper, you can chop up a drive cage (if needed) and mount that somewhere more convenient. Just try to hide the parts you cut or repaint it? I don't know, might be hard to match the paint on that case. You can also just put some holes in where the disc drive bays are and fit it in there if you needed to, I think..

Well one solution is to drill some holes in the bottom of the case and coresponding holes in the removable hdd trays included , put some rubber grommets in between for noise reduction and you're donne . Also it's cooled by the air coming from the rad fans (I assume you'l be mounting it in the front). The air's gonna be warm but it's better than noting .
