My PSU is an enermax NAXN 80+ 500W.

I have currently
CPU: AMD FX-6300 (Not OC)
STORAGE: 1x 320 GB HDD (Unsure of brand CBF pulling out because poor cable management, am upgrading to 1TB WD BLACK HDD)
RAM: 8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X

GPU: EVGA GTX 650
MOBO: GIGABYTE 78LMT-2SP

i would like to put an EVGA GTX 780 into my system, but everytime i go to purchase one i always remember i only have a 500W PSU

Will it make the cut? or will i need to upgrade that aswel?

It's nowhere near "being on the edge" his system under full gaming load uses like 370watt.

Ye i just realized that when i looked through that vid i just linked but some people aren't comfortable with low PSU's

Since it's a quality PSU you won't have any problems. And if you do, you can just return the card in the first 2 weeks ^^

is it seriously a quality PSU? i'd never really heard of the brand before (a friend sold me this PC as it currently is) and assumed it wasn't very good.

I'd suggest you get a better psu. I wouldn't trust a entry level psu with a high end gpu (But Enermax is a great psu OEM btw..just not their entry level lineups)

It will be almost 'on the edge'. That psu can only provide 408w on the 12v rails. So yeah..very close. But it will still run that gpu..

It will manage it but it's on the edge. Just get the graphics card and upgrade the psu to a six or seven hundred watt one next time you get money ~
