ok so you guys told me that My A6-5400K at 4.3ghz would not bottle neck my R7 260X which came in the mail today but for some reason MSI afterburner and the APP on my phone are both reading my GPU usage all over the place and I'm only getting around 55fps in bf3 sometimes dropping into the low 40's at only 720p on low settings  is my CPU the problem or could it be something else?

edit: so searching the web is seems like it is just staying in power save mood which keeps the clock at 300mhz so I'm hoping it's a driver I removed the beta driver and whent back to the live stable driver

Let me recheck  Would underclocking  the GPU down to a reference clock speed help if it is a bottleneck?

underclocking  the GPU down to a reference clock

Have you heightened the power limit if you overclocked? Otherwise it won't go higher than stock anyway. As for bottlenecks, the cpu has nothing to do with it. You could tun bf3 at 720p low settings even on the integrated gpu. Which brings me to think... have you plugged the monitor in the dedicate gpu or into the motherboard bort? if you plugged it directly into the motherboard then you are running it off of integrated graphics and no wonder you are getting low framerates...

the APP on my phone

what app? how did you connect it to the pc?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Show us a screenshot of msi afterburner and a screenshot of gpu-z. I told you, the cpu can't be it.

I have it plugged in threw HDMI on my video card and ok let me run another test run and I'll get screen shots...but before I do that could the fact that I have raptr in the background be an issue?  also I'm using powergrid with a add on that uses open hardware to monitor GPU usage also I bought the XFX core edition R7 260X which comes clocked at 1075mhz

I use openhardwaremonitor to see my load %. The highest I've seen is 94% on the CPU and 100% on both GPUs. So my system is almost perfectly even. A bad bottleneck would be 50% GPU and 100% CPU. As long as your GPUs are at 100%, it means your CPU is able to "feed" them work.

Even when on integrated never seen it go over %99 maybe it's just an issue with AMD? but do you see what I'm talking about in the screen shot? it's like a line graph for the stock market :/

Heres the screen shot

Make sure vsync is disabled as to not throttle when checking your load %s. By the looks of it, your GPU is bottlenecked. More than likely the CPU, unless you have low mem capacity or slow mem. Check RAM usage, but I would suggest upgrade CPU or OC it to help "feed" that GPU abit more.

Just run with it for now. All this means is your GPU is a bit more powerful than the rest of your system. You're a part of this great community. I'm sure an upgrade is in your future. On the bright side, your GPU won't be stressed to badly.

Could the fact that I'm using a TV instead of a monitor have anything to do with it? the TV likes to automatically change it's resolution :/

If it was oc'd out of the box it shouldn't be causing issues. raptr doesn't impact performance in any way on my system, so I doubt that's the problem. you didn't post the gpu-z screenshot :o but don't worry, if you plugged the monitor in the right slot it shouldn't change anything. There is one thing you could try: go to catalyst control center, open "informations" and "hardware". Check what the graphical chipset name is. If it says something other than "AMD Radeon R7 200 Series" you're probably running the monitor off of integrated graphics for some reason. If that's the case, try reinstalling the driver. It just sounds very strange to me that your cpu might be bottlenecking, there are people running that card just fine on athlon cpus.

isn't the Athlon quite a bit more powerful than this APU since it is a quad core? But everything says I'm running an R7 200 series

I meant athlon dual cores ^^ I really don't know what the problem could be at this point, is the cpu locked at 100% load when you play? If it is then maybe it's really bottlenecking, but I'd find it very strange.

it doesn't stay at 100% it bounces around a lot just like the video card. When I look at GPU-Z it's saying it's only running on a PCI-E 1.1 lane motherboard says that with a FM2 CPU it should run it as a 2.0 lane

Are you sure you plugged the card in in the right slot? if you did we're looking at a faulty motherbord.

ok nvm called customer support and got it settled GPU-Z was reading it at v1.1 but when I did the render test it bumped it up to 2.0 so I guess when my PC is IDLE it lowers it to 1.1 but when it is underload raises it back up to 2.0

I'm starting to wonder if it's just cause I'm using a TV This TV will automatically adjust it's resolution which is annoying I'm going to the store today to get a DVI cable so I can connect it back to my monitor I'll let you guys know if that fixes it

These threads always mount to some stupid shit.

Listen up OP, you want ot save everyone time? update your OP with concrete information. Then ur problem will be solved or found in matter of seconds on this forum. If I dont see appropriate, im passing over, maybe others will help you.

In the game ur having problem:    - What's your FPS and refresh rate?

-what's your maximum cpu core usage?
 Give gpu usage.

-Watch windows task manager and tell us the cpu usage of the application that your having problems, and total cpu usage.

Everyone could be helping you iwith the time they waste upon reading the entire thread for your scattered progress.

Here I helped you help yourself, could of gave you the answer instead if you made it possible.
