Question on getting out of Tbaytel contract

Luxor

I have a 3 year $50/month contract with Tbaytel, on my Samsung Galaxy s4. Is there some sort of equation to figure out how to get out of this contract with Tbaytel, and get a new cellphone, or would I have to go to the store to find out? The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to get A Iphone 5s. I'm 11 months into my contract so far.

You can usually go to their site and see what the termination fee would be.

You will have quite a large Early Termination Fee/  Early Upgrade Fee attached to over 2 years left on contract as they will usually give a small discount on these but it will be like paying $45 for the remaining months or something stupid like that.

Have a word with them however I'd wait till September time when the iPhone 6 is launched as its only a few months away now!

It won't be nearly that high. Termination fees in Canada have a cap, and the provider can not ask for more than that amount.

Quite a bit more.

You're looking at at least a few hundred dollars, if not more. I think the cap is $500.

So technically, because it would've cost $700 to buy straight up when i got it, I had to pay $200 for the 3 year contract, and If it only costed $500 to buy out, I really wouldn't lose any money..

They're essentially looking to recover the cost of the device. Your credit score will likely take a small hit.
