Amp's don't matter, right?

Go to solution Solved by magic,

It'll only draw the amount of power(A) it needs, if it's not there it won't work too well but if you have more than 4.3A available it should be fine

Voltage is the important bit

I'm about to repair a corrupt boot file on a friends laptop, and intend to use my universal power adapter that I use for an older laptop in my house (after the original power brick died).

Both require a 19V input, and the DC adapters match up, but my friends laptop takes 3.5A while my older one takes 4.34A.

Am I safe to assume that the Amps don't matter? I'm pretty sure it's what the guy said when he sold me the universal adapter a few years ago.
