So some time this evening, my computer started completely locking up every few minutes. I'd reset it, it would freeze again, rinse and repeat. One of the times this happened I was told the display driver had crashed. A few other times, the screen just went black. The few times I was able to get task manager open, it froze, but reported extremely high CPU usage even when I wasn't running anything. It would have been nice if it hadn't frozen on 0.0% for every process on the list, though.

I downloaded the latest catalyst, but that didn't seem to help at all. This is going to drive me up the wall if it continues. Anyone seen this before?

You're and your are not the same. Neither are their, there, and they're. Defiantly and Definitely are definitely not the same. Definately and Rediculous are not words, and you should feel bad for misspelling them. If English is your first language, you don't have a learning disorder, and you get any of these wrong, you are making the entire forum slightly dumber by doing so. Please take the extra three seconds to type properly, and have a nice day.

Randomly crashing display driver is where I'd start. Check event viewer to see what it says about the those shutdowns. Probably nothing special.

Probably your GPU. Have you cleaned and or swapped the cooler recently? If you have please regrease. It can happen where the card heats so fast under load high temps are not even detected.

If not try pulling out your GPU (Run integrated gpu or a different card) and see if that eliminates the prob. If it does than it is definitely either the driver or the card itself. If it doesn't, you can be certain the card itself is not to blame and it's a problem elsewhere.

Ok, ended up updating the bios and redoing my overclock from scratch. That stopped the complete freezes, but it's still randomly hanging. I'll try and take a video next time it happens. I haven't gotten the display driver message since that one time.

your OC might be unstable.. try to run Prime95

or try to manage more on your OC stats..

It passed an 8 hour Aida64 test with no problems, then hung five minutes after I stopped the stress test and the temps and usage had returned to normal.

Is it possible that it's a problem with my SSD? There's a notification in Cam from when this whole thing started that the drive got disconnected. Nothing's come up since then, though.
