This is my first build so I am still learning a lot of things, however, I'm getting a 780Ti And initially I planned on getting an 850w psu but then I saw Linus' latest video about the 4k gaming rig.

So I was wondering If he can get two Ti's in a rig and still only need 850, how much power do I REALLY need for a single overclocked card? I know I need headroom and I know the PSU has to power everything but how much would I actually need?

what is your actual rig ? I suggest you go gather the parts on pcpartpicker.com  and make your build on this. at the top right corner just on top of the cpu. you will find the aproximated wattage needed. thats all :D

What's the bare minimum you can use? Well, Tiny Tom Logan ran an overclocked 4670K and 780TI on a 430W PSU..

That being said, going for the "bare minimum" isn't always a good choice.. If you really want to keep the PSU small, I'd go with at least a 550-600W PSU (depending on what CPU you have)..

For reference, I went with a 750W PSU for my 4770K + single-780 rig.. I may add a second 780 (without upgrading the PSU), but I haven't decided if I want to or not yet.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

I'd recommend something in the 600-watt range. 660-watt units should be the maximum you should bother looking at unless you have any intention of doing SLI in the future.

Intel Core i7-5930K | Noctua NH-D15S | ASUS X99-M WS | 32GB (4 x 8GB) G.Skill Ripjaws V 2666MHz | MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G | Samsung 850 Pro 512GB | Seasonic 660XP2 | Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV

LG 34UM95-P w/ Ergotron MX  | O2/ODAC | Audioengine A5+ w/ AS8 | Sennheiser HD 598 | Ducky Shine 3 | Cooler Master Storm Spawn

I know that the bare minimum is never a good thing but i'm trying to see whats just right without breaking the bank you know?

700 - 750 watts is what you would need with some over head. Always good to have some over head in a PSU.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I went for 750W on a 760 and 4770k and that is plenty so about 850W would be good for overclocking one 780Ti's I'm guessing

No. A 760 uses less than 200W. A 4770k has a TDP of 84W. You could run that system on 400W easily.

And as I said in the post above yours, a 780Ti and 4770k both overclocked can run on 600W.
