What will happens sometimes is if you are getting way higher fps than your refresh rate you will get screen tearing. If you arent someone thay even notices it then dont worry about limiting your fps or using vsync because doing so will usually cause input lag.

If you cap the monitor the GPU is not outputting anything more than, lets say, 60 fps. But if you don't cap it the graphics card is outputting a higher amount of frames that your monitor can handle, and that causes ''tearing''.

Some console ports are capped to 30 fps because those idiotic and lazy developers thought it was a good idea to bind game physics to framerate, meaning that different framerates would break the game. Others do it with 60 to try and reduce tearing without vsync but it's not a great idea as people with 120hz monitors can't use them to their full potential. Don't bother with limiting framerates manually, it doesn't make sense.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Basically I believe it helps with screen tearing. And also, it makes FPS more stable. If say you were playing a game with FPS capped at 60, it'll probably only ever sit at 60 and never really change. But if you have unlimited, it can jump from like 400 to like 40, it's really quite random and depends on your rig.
