I wonder if it will be encrypted to a high standard. If not I will just continue using Kakotalk...

It's too late for BBM, WhatsApp, Kakaotalk etc. have taken over... they should have released this 3 years ago at least...

I don't see the point in this at all. Pretty sure WhatsApp already dominates the cross-platform IM service. If anything, BlackBerry are just shooting themselves in the foot by taking away such a popular exclusive feature.

I particularly don't understand why Whatsapp users are sticking with Whatsapp except for the fact that all their contacts have Whatsapp. I consider Whatsapp to be out done by Kakaotalk.

Kakaotalk solely runs on data. It is free of charge. Meaning, No subscription fee after a year of trial. VOIP to contacts using Kakaotalk, Messaging through internet, Polls for anything (Deciding where to go for dinner), Groupchat, Group call, Sending attachments etc...

I actually don't think many people know about the subscription. It hasn't been a year since release, so I think a lot of people are going to get an ugly surprise when it asks them for money.

I think they are a bit late with this one. At least in The Netherlands, everyone dumped their BB and gone along with an iPhone or an Android phone.

Eah. Google Hangouts is now on every platform. Even things like Viber etc. have desktop apps. Maybe if BBM came along before iMessage etc. sure.

The new Hangouts is amazing, and nothing will ever match it because of its integration with the computer side. It should be the new standard, BBM is pointless now, BlackBerry users need to move on. If you have BBM contacts, just tell them to migrate. It's like some of them don't even realise new and better alternatives exist.
