Intel's IMC favors bandwidth and not timings. Go with the fastest frequency that you are looking at (2400 MHz) it will also make your machine more responsive under extreme workloads.

Really? Because I am interested in acquainting myself with the i7-4790k. So between the 1866mhzCL8 and the 2133mhzCL9 I will go with the 2133mhzCL9. I will also probably fine tune the timings to see if I can squeeze some extra performance out of it.

I am doing it for FSX if that makes a difference.

 

Then shouldn't RAM manufactures use their response times of the modules as a differentiating factor?
