Google Teasing Android 5.0

qwertywarrior

Google now is useless in most countries and Android 4.4+ is plagued by this nonsense. Hopefully, Microsoft's Cortana will be awesome and Microsoft will be willing to port it to Android so we can use it instead.

cortana is awesome. i did an iSwitched to WP with a friend 2 days ago, and its way better than GNow already. ill do a thread after i finish the iswitched

Why don't they call it Google+ 1.0 Pizza Sauce? Probably gonna have G+ integration to the point that your mom knows what porn video you're watching. ;)

your not getting 4.4, pretty sure samsung said that, and the time it takes to release an update is usually the carriers fault, not samsungs

That's why you install a custom rom, they often create new features before google do.

Here's a feature that's been hinted but I hope they manage since it could be a real game changer: This should be the last full OS upgrade you'll ever need, from now on it's a rolling release system and each individual part of the OS gets updated, through the play store, as soon as the newest version is tested and ready for launch. No more waiting for a full upgrade just to get that cool new camera software or fancy new notifications systems or whatever.

This would really free google from holding back their upgrades because Samsung can't be bothered to update touch wiz or is too busy fucking around with Tizen to actually implement the updates on their older models

Um you realize Google has nothing to do with that? Carrier phones don't get updates from Google like you described. Google writes the vanilla version then the manufacturers have to do their thing then the carriers have to approve it. A single update takes months.

What you described is iOS. lol.

I'm getting 4.4 , but it's the last update , that's what i'm saying . There are worse phones out there with 4.4 , which will probably get 5.x , and effin samsung as usual won't update .  The s3 lte is almost the same thing as the s4 , and the s5 is quite similar too...

I'm not interested in potentially 'bricking' my phone.

As someone who unlocked, rooted and jumped between three different ROMs within a few hours on my HTC One X+, while contending with PC Driver issues, along with it being my first day of attempting such a thing, I can say that there isn't much chance of you bricking your phone. As long as you only flash ROMs/recovery's designed for your device (including international/US variants), then there isn't much a problem.

No thanks. I rather use a device where I don't need to jump through such hoops.
