Hey guys,

I'm just interested to know if IPS TVs are any good. I know IPS display technology in general is pretty good but I'm just not sure how IPS TVs fair in comparison. If any of you have an IPS TV, would you mind sharing your experience with it?

Thanks in advance.

Alright think about it like this.

What is the main downside of TN?

     Viewing angle

     Color reproduction

If you get multiple people on a couch pretty much only the person sitting in the center, dead infront of the TV (depending on distance blah blah blah) can see it without it darkening.

Also color reproduction is like... The #1 thing to look at when it comes to TVs (for me at least)

BEFORE PEOPLE SAY THAT THERE AREN'T TN TVs YES THERE ARE I ENCOUNTERED ONE AT BESTBUY LAST WEEK!

IPS/PLS TVs wont have those problems. Also you are going to have trouble finding a TV that isn't IPS or PLS. They do exist. But they are rare. And they are bad. Very bad.

So you're saying IPS TVs aren't good at all?

TV

In that case as long as you are keeping to major brands then they will all be IPS or similar tech

Since TVs are designed to be viewed from all sorts of angles it is not something I would worry about

What? No they are absolutely great. I'm attacking TN TVs. I saw one last week. IPS/PLS is absolutely great for TVs and you would be hard pressed to find a non-IPS/PLS TV (although I did last week)

Did you even read his post? he said  that Tn has thisthisthis problems, and IPS Tv's don't have any of these problems

edit: so he said IPS tv's are good

My bad, I misread.

Was my fault. 5:24am for me and I haven't slept so my formatting is horrible and I went on a tangent. :P

Ah no worries mate. I've done worse formatting then that when I'm tired. I often will look at it the next day and think "Why the heck did I write that, that doesn't even make any sense?". So I wouldn't worry about it mate. I did look at your post again and realised that I really did misread it.

Yeah, I encountered TN TVs from China/Taiwan that are like $200-300 for 40-46 inches but they don't come with speakers and the display is incredibly terrible.
