I don't see anything other than Chrome using much RAM :/

Maybe it is specific to that application?

Check KillingFloor forum for similar issues.

Did you have similar issues when running any other game/ application?

VRAM won't trigger a low-RAM error.

Can you take a screenshot of both the performance tab and the processes tab while a game is open? (preferably when the error appears on the screen)

This is a known issue with Windows 8.1. The issue is with a memory leak caused by Windows, hence why you get the error in multiple games. It's not confirmed, but one potential thing that triggers it is if your desktop resolution is different than the resolution you use in game. It's a problem that Microsoft will need to patch no matter what, but if you are playing at a resolution that is different than your desktop, that may be what is causing your problem.

That's just one potential cause, but not the only one. It's an overall issue with Windows 8/8.1 that can happen to anyone, regardless of resolution, and there is no user side fix atm. It's just one more thing to throw in the faces of people like to say "there is no reason not to upgrade from Windows 7".
