I'm going to build a mini-itx gaming PC and I want to know if it's good or a bad build etc. It's going to be mid-range so I'm not going too crazy on parts. Budget: around $1000

Parts:

-Asus VS248H-P 24-Inch (Monitor)

-Fractal Design Node 304 (Case)

-Corsair CX500 Watt (Power Supply)

-Core i5 3570k (Processor)

-MSI Geforce GTX 660ti Power Edition (GPU)

-Asus P8Z77i Deluxe (Motherboard)

-Samsung 840 250GB (Solid State Drive)

-Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MH 8GB 2x4 (RAM)

-Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition (WaterCooling)

I would say make sure all your clearances are good, like ram heatsyncs and cpu cooler and the extra bit of board with all the power phases, make sure they aren't going to not fit together. Also I would grab a cheaper less space SSD and grab a HDD for your games and such and then upgrade from a 660ti to a 7950 but stick with MSI.

For the SSD I'm good for right now and later I'll get a HDD since I'm not really a hoarder when it comes to memory space

And thanks for the tips, well appreciated!

The Bitfenix Prodigy was suprisingly big when I got mine. They are wider than most standard cases, which could be noticed when you look at the space between the edge and the 5.25 drive slot

I'd say you should get a prodigy only if you want to get a full loop or a 240 and another radiator, or if you need space for lots of 3.5 hard drives.

But you can still get it if you like the case  :)

And for good airflow through the case

Since you are aircooling I think the best option is to go for the prodigy for several reasons:

1) if you want to water cool in the future, the prodigy allows 2 240mm rad or with some creativity you may add another 120mm rad.

2) Air flow on the prodigy is pretty amazing. 1 x 230mm fan in the front, 2 x 120 at the top and 1x 120 at the rear.

3) if you have a semi-modular/ modular PSU you can hide it below the Mobo. there is ample space for the the wires

4) if you want more HHDs than most the prodigy allows five 3.5 HHDs + five 2.5 HHD/SSD (1 at the bottom, 2 near the MoBo, 2 at the side panel) :) Though most M-Itx Mobos only have 4 sata ports. :))

5) Room for Large Gpus

6) Looks pretty friggin amazing =))
