does this old motherboard overclock?

a friend want to overclock his cpu but he doesnt know if his mobo can.

Seriously doubt it. Even if it does, it probably won't be a good idea if he doesn't want to fry the board.

It should OC, have him flash the latest BIOS for the board before doing so.

yes... he told that there is an option to change the frequency and the voltage but the option it's locked.... he can't change it.... what he should do?

Did this motherboard come in an OEM machine (Dell etc)?

It looks like it did; if that's the case you can't overclock as the OEM would have locked it.

and i can't unlock it?

he should go in to the bios and look, but if it can it won't be good for overclocking.

if you have read more you would have learned that he found an overclocking option but it was locked.... how can he unlock it?

not impossible, but its not going to be worth the effort. he could rewrite the bios literally to unlock it, but that would take years. lets just say its impossible and he would have to get a new board.

Read on how to flash the bios first http://us.msi.com/page/biosupdate other wise you will brick the board. I'm not saying it will or will not unlock the overclocking, but it's worth a try, if you want it. Just please read up on flashing bios first before atempting.

I found a older MSI vid, that should help, most all the newer vis tell you how to do UEFI bios, which that board doe snot not have.

Doing through the OS is not a good idea, it is recomended to do it the old fashed way. Less likly to brick the board this way.
