To transfer the drivers? why not just download them on the chromebook onto a memory stick and then into the computer?

I'm sure this can be done, I'm not sure how though but just as a quick alternative for now.. Do you have a smart phone? If so just connect it via USB connect your phone to your wireless network and enable tethering in your phones Wi-Fi options. This should work for now.

I only had a quick look but this might be more what you're after: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-internet-connection-sharing#1TC=windows-7

What is the issue with your desktops wireless card? If you just need to install drivers you could find the drivers on your notebook move them to your desktop on a USB drive and install the drivers there then get the rest of your drivers when your nets working again.

Good luck.

The phone thing is really easy to set up, if you have any trouble just google "How to tether (Phone model)" I'm sure there will be a guide. -Remember to select your phone as default adapter in Windows if it doesn't automatically.

I'm not sure what you mean by Windows 8 Shutting down, I don't use Windows 8 but I can't imagine that being something that should happen.

When I say download the driver on your Chromebook I mean go to the manufacturer site for the network adapter and download (Not Install) the correct driver for the system you want to install it on and then put that driver on a USB Stick and move it to the desktop you want it on and then install the driver there. So the OS of the system you Download the driver on should be irrelevant.

Hope I'm not making this more confusing. Good luck.

Ah okay so you're getting a blue screen when you install the driver?

That's no good. Maybe you're adapter isn't supported by Windows 8? What model wireless adapter are you using and what version of windows are you running?

81. 64 bit,

No, The adapter not updated to Windows 8, so you need a driver to fix that, That driver you need to download over the internet, and for the driver to work you need be on the internet then you install it. So waiting for the shops gonna open so i can buy a cable, got a 0,5 meter long one and my router is 3,5 meters away and i need to cross a stair so....

Also we are gonna remove the walls and then we can wire a 50 meter long network cable to my pc, and the wireless thingy is only for 5-6 mounths, (Can't wait that long!)

Note from asus.com: "For users running Windows 8.1, install the hardware driver version 5.0.35.0 first before connecting the PCE-N53 PCI-E wireless adapter to your computer"

So long as you have a USB drive you should be able to download this driver: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/PCE-N53/DR_PCE_N53_50350_WIN81.rar

Copy the downloaded file to the USB Drive > Connect drive to the computer you intend to use the wireless card on > copy file to desktop > install driver.

Then you should be able to shut down and unplug your PC install the wireless card and when you boot up it should work so long as the driver installed correctly.

The cable is a good idea though, I always try to get my stationary desktops hooked up via LAN cable as it's more reliable than wireless anyway.

Edit: Download the driver using your chromebook then copy to the USB and install on other PC.
