Plug 'n' play with sata HDD's

I have a corsair 650D case which has a hot swap bay at the top with a sata interface. This pugs into a sata port on my motherboard and a sata power connector. Its a Asus IV Formula motherboard, with an AMD Phenom II x6 1100T and 16GB of RAM. I have AHCI enabled in the bios, what else do i need to do to be able to just slot a drive in the top while windows 7 is on and the drive pops up ready for me to access the files?

Cheers

So it seem to work with this other 160GB HDD i have. For some reason though when i plug in my 1.5TB drive is doesnt show up, the loading bar at the top just hangs, it shows drive E but there is no storage bar. Whats going on? Also the drive has about 750GB of data on it.

The sata ports in the BIOS may have to be set for hot swap, I don't think that by default they allow you do hot swap.
