Hey guys! (typo alert I'm writing this a late night)

I just got my new system today, and one of the graphic cards fell out during shipping.

So I got it connected, Hooked up to the motherboard, screwed in place and connected it to the sli bridge.

But in my Nvdia control panel there's no sli option under the 3D menu?

I'm getting a steady 60 fps on ultra in bf3 (it seems to be capping at 60 fps I have no idea why?

Is there any tips to check if it's working?

The build is as follows

i7 3770k

Gigabyte z77x-d3h motherboard

2 x msi gtx 660 twin frozr edition

I'd guess that's all info you need, can't remember the other parts exactly on top of my head.

I'm running windows 8.

Hope that you can help me :)

go into the Nvidia control panel and check. If frames are capping at 60, Vsync or a frame limiter is on. Always turn off Vsync if you want to be good at the game.

Vsync is the way to go because your monitor can't display more than 60fps to begin with. Erratic framerates create a choppy game play whereas Vsync forces the smoothest gameplay possible because it enforces the most consistent frame rate. Consistence in framerate is the key to the best and most smooth gameplay and Vsync ensures the most consistent game play experience.

Like everyone else its just vsync being enabled.

In regards to whether you want to keep it on or off that really comes down to personal preference. I like it on but i have a few friends who swear by leaving it off so coincidentally they are also better at most games than me so...

make sure the card isnt broken first then have a look. Does the fan spin? is it detected as a plugged in device?

keeping Vsync enabled with a GTX 600 series will enable Adaptive Vsync in game automaticly

Are you sure ? In that case I would never buy a GTX 6xx series card as I like the old Vsync just the way it was.

Also pro gamers turn graphical settings down or off. I like high IQ so Vsync is a must.

you know how Vsync works right,

Adaptive Vsync stops frame rate crashes bellow 60fps and stops tearing above 60fps

I honestly never had that issue with frame rates dropping from 60 to 30fps. Vsync was never broken I have been using it forever and it is just fine the way it is.

Yeah, but Vsync adds latency to your display, so it makes it harder to control.

I like the old Vsync the way it was. Even if the framerate is below 60fps with Vsync it will never drop to 30fps on my AMD card so .... Triple Buffering FTW !

If it's below 60fps with Adaptive Vsync on it will still tear which is why the original Vsync is better IMO.

i have never had issues with my Adaptive Vsync, all i get is smooth frame rates, no tearing and no fps lose when it drops below 60fps

I can't hit anything in CSS (edit: meant CS:GO) with Vsync on. It's near painful for me to play, but I'm also in the minority of people who can't use most LASER mice (anything with the Avago ADSN 9500/9800 sensor) because of the acceleration they have, so it's probably not as bad as it seems to me.

Well you are probably using a crap mouse. Beside CSS is a really old game.

I was trying out my friends SS Xai. Most LASER mice use the ADSN 9500/9800. Some of the older ones use the Cypress ovation and the ADSN 6010; both of which have a realistic acceleration, but have relatively low tracking speeds, so they are suited to high sensitivty users. the Xai didn't work for me on a low sensitivity at all. I could feel the acceleration. I'm currently using a Zowie AM, which has an ADSN 3090 sensor. It has an acceleration curve that's much closer to real movement than the ADSN 9500/9800 sensor.

Here's the acceleration curve of the ADSN 9500 on the Xai:

belsqdbh6ng4hh0nr.gif

The ADSN 3090 is much closer to linear at 100%.
