Over the past couple months I have been undecided for which mechanical keyboard to go with. I have been looking at the CM storm trigger in the blue switches.I think I am pretty set on blue switches.
I seen at CES that they had a black bezel'd Trigger but it still has not been out yet and I am wanting to get a keyboard already. I have looked at the ducky shine 2 as well.

~I know there are hundreds of posts on mechanical keyboards on here but what I am looking for is something that preferably is under 120.

~Full sized-I don't really like the ten-key-less and such I rather it be a full standard layout.

~Something with blue switches, back lit.

~Something as well that I do like is having modular cable on the keyboard (I don't know if its completely necessary but I tend to like the ability to remove the cable and replace if needed.

I have also tried the Razer Black Widow Ultimate Elite 2013. I liked it but just felt like I should do more shopping around before settling on that because I want the keyboard to last.

So if anyone has any input on this and have any other keyboards to take a look at it would greatly be appreciated.

ducky shine 2. hands down.

I agree but it doesn't meet the $120.00 or less criteria.  For that matter, finding a full sized mechanical MX Blue keyboard with detachable USB cables for less than $120 will be a tough nut.  Finding it with all that and backlit is even tougher.

I really do think he should look at the Quickfire TK in MX Blue has everything you want but the arrow keys and Numpad are joined......not full sized but it's easy to train yourself to hit that Num Lock button when you need the arrow keys.  Unfortunately, they are nowhere to be found at the moment.  I myself have a back order in for this exact keyboard.  Looking like a couple of weeks.  They sell like hot cakes.

True....for $20.00 it's not too bad.  My suggestion would be this below to him.....just bought one myself this morning and it's still available.  Two day delivery within the US for $12.00 too.

If you don't mind both chinese and regular english alphabet symbols then you have a wide choice on this site of different MX Blues.  But, if you can wait, the CM Quickfire TK in MX Blue would certainly be to his liking and it's $100.00.

I think I could manage 20 dollars or so. But what about the warranty? Anyone ever have to claim a warranty through them since they are out of country?

Also I seen the Ducky Shine III is supposed to be coming out soon I read something about. Might end up just waiting for that would be a good idea?

And I seen that newegg has a ducky channel now. Idk if tiger-direct is any better than going with newegg's ducky channel.

I have a trigger and have no issues with it, but if you can folk the extra money the ducky shine is pretty much the best keyboard with LED lights.

I was in the same situation as you just last week and decided to go with the trigger because I had a tight budget for buying a few pieces to a new setup I am working on and Canada Computers had the trigger with blue switches on for $110 plus a $30 mail in rebate and that deal was just too good for me to pass up. If money wasn't an issue I would have gone for a ducky but unfortunately it was and I went with the trigger.

That said, I am extremely happy with the trigger! The build quality is fantastic and the keys sound fantastic! This is my first mechanical keyboard and I am loving it!

How is the back lighting on it? Do you have any complaints about the keyboard in general?

Just curious...Has anyone recommending one over the other actually spent any reasonable amount of time with both?

Hey man, my girlfriend has the ducky shine 2, and I've played with it too, it's pretty cool, I'm thinking of buying one to replace my CM quickfire Pro. I've gone off the look of my quickfire, but it only cost 100 dollars on sale, whereas the ducky cost my girlfriend 200 dollars.

#!

I have owned a CM Trigger with browns and am currently using a CM Quickfire Pro with blues.

I personally really loved the wrist rest on the Trigger, and am annoyed by the Quickfire Pro's numpad. It's been hard to get used to both the 00 button and the enter button not working with the numpad on. Also, it can be hard to read the numpad numbers because the back light turns off (if I was a numpad magician I could type the numbers without looking at them, but alas I am not). Enjoying the blues over the browns.

The only reason I switch was because I was ever so slightly uncomfortable with my WASD hand and mouse hand so far apart.  I'm picky.

The backlighting is great, very bright. I don't really have any complaints about the keyboard, I love the thing. The wrist rest is also very comfortable for me.

I owned two Triggers. The first one had defective onboard drivers, windows never detected the keyboard properly and I had to return it. The second one died after one month, and smelled burnt out of the USB connector. I probably just had bad luck, but I would definitely recommend you get yourself a Ducky.
