I am looking to replace my stock aluminum heat sink so I can push my overclock farther but while still keeping the noise as low as possible. It is an open air (no case) setup so it does keep temperatures and noise levels under light loads pretty decent. However, when I start cooking the CPU, its fan starts to sound like a tornado and isn't very effective at high temp dissipation. Its current thermal behavior: Idle-39c Avg-54c Full Load-unknown (I haven't allowed it to exceed 68c but Prime95 will easily push past that if I let it). I do have Cool 'n Quiet enabled which allows for the 39c idle other wise it would be at 45c, and CnQ causes no instability. See signature for current setup config.

I am currently looking at getting a CM Hyper212 Evo, but am wondering how this paired with one or two NF-F12's would perform with the Phenom OC'd to 4GHz. I have also looked into Noctua NH-D14/15 and NH-U14 heat sinks but I don't know that I can justify dropping $70+ on one of those. My current budget is $45. I am open to suggestions for something that can better meet the tolerances I need, but it needs to be amazing for me to spend more than $45 on it.

All suggestions/advice is welcome, and thanks for your input.

The NH-D15 is freaking awesome. However, for the price and your budget, the EVO is great. But I'll go look a little bit more to see what the best one is for your budget. :)

Primarily in the looks department.

EDIT: There is the Shadow Rock 2, but I'm not really sure if you can find it for that in USD. On be quiet!'s website, it's 40 euros. And I don't know how much that is in USD.

Thanks for your help. Yea, I'll prob just do the Evo. Do you think it would be decently quiet with the NF-F12's?
