Since I will be ordering parts to build a computer this week, I was curious how likely a part is to come dead on arrival.  Also, which parts are the most likely to come DOA?

i5 4670k (can OC to 4.4Ghz) - Hyper 212 evo w/ AC MX2 - XFX Radeon R9 280X8GB ADATA XPG V2 DDR3-1600 - MSI Z87 G41 - Corsair CX600M 600W PSU - 1TB HDD - 120GB SSD

Not likely, maybe 2 out of 60 mobo's. I work in this kind of things. Dont worry you will get an RMA really quick  also called an replacement for nothing!!

Its actually more rare than you might think. Its same as quality ratings based on user reviews or forum posts. If something is bad or doesn't work it gets more negative posts than positive ones. Same goes with DOA. You only see people posting about parts that are DOA, not all those working ones.

Just make sure you have all the parts required to build the PC right away, don't just buy the motherboard and then wait until you got more money to get the CPU, RAM and what not. That way if something does go wrong, you can easily get it exchanged during the first 15 to 30 days.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x16GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Bazzite

In my 15 years of buying PC compnents, it's very rare. I buy atleast a minumum of $2000 worth of PC parts every year and I have only had 1 DOA in that amount of time, which was back in 2007 with my HD3850 GPU.

2% is average chances of DOA  HDD's and PSU's being at the top with like ~4% and ~3.5% respectively I believe... I haven't checked since I built a rig in 2012 though xD

Depends greatly on the component, it's generally about 3-4% but most of the time extremely unlucky. If you get one it's really just unfortunate. I think things like hard drives have a slightly higher early use/DOA failure rate but don't quote me on that.
