I'm not sure if this is isolated to the Surface Pro (i have gen 1) or windows 8 in general but when i have some form of audio playback (be a youtube video or wte) on the internal speakers then plug in my headphones/earbuds, the computer continues playing back the audio through the internal speakers instead of switching to the headphones. My headphones are the default playback devices in the audio mixer within windows.

Anybody also experience this glitch on a Surface or any other laptop (even desktop)? Anyone know any solutions? Thanks

I had a similar problem with my Nexus 7 (2012). It turns out I just had to push in the 3.5mm connector a little further.

So just make sure the connector is firmly plugged in.

If that doesn't fix it and you're sure that the default audio-out is the headphones/earbuds and it still plays through the speakers then you may have a faulty Surface.

I'm pretty sure its not my Surface unit as much as the software because when i put the earbuds in, they are detected but just aren't used for playback.
