To start I'm not at all into audio tech I know next to nothing about headphones. My current ones are junk and it's noticable. I've saved up enough to replace them with something nice. I've done a bit a research and come between two. Sennheiser momentum 4 on sale for 280$(cad) and audez maxwell for ~500$. I like the features of the audez but I don't think it's worth 200$ more. Are the sennheiser good headphones should I buy them? Or step up a bit to the audez or are there some others that I should be considering?

Besides the price, I think one thing to consider is if you want a boom mic or not. I don't mind them most of the time, but only if I'm at home. Also my cats like to attack the mic sometimes.. I'm a fan of Sennheiser headphones. I have two pairs of the older HD7 DJ's. Super comfy, well built, great sound quality. Sad they don't make that model anymore. I'd save the money and go with the Momentums

Can recommend the Maxwell, they're very good in my 2 years experience

Not the best budget friendly tho...

On Maxwells, my pal has them and he had to send them to service due to a fairly common issue, so beware. Apparently their cans lack proper venting so if you put them on too quickly or too forcefully, or squish them against your head, the air pressure can rupture the membrane.

My go-to suggestion to everything headphones is to look for a local audio store and try some headphones on personally - something that other people like is not guaranteed to blow you away. Are you looking for wireless ones specifically?

I'm not sure the exact model, they're Logitech, something like the h340. Yes I would like them to be wireless. And the detachable boom mic is something that I like about the maxwells but I'm really not sure if I need it, I've never used headphone without a boom mic. But I've only ever had cheap pairs.

I have the Maxwell and they're excellent.  But I see no problem going with the momentum and saving a buck.  I really want the HDB 630 because of the EQ and the momentum is similar to the 630.  So if it were me I'd go with the cheaper route and get the momentum.  Unless you want a mic like @Omon_Ra mentioned.

One thing to consider other than the need for a mic, is that any difference in sound quality won't matter as much because your brain will adjust to the sound after a while and it will become the new normal.  One you reach a certain threshold of quality certain changes or "gains" in quality don't matter so much.  Both of these are going to be quality.  I would go with whether or not you need a mic and let that be the deciding factor.

The Sennheiser has beam-forming mics. I've personally never used a headset with them, so not sure of the quality with them, but I could see that as a benefit if OP will be using the cans outside the house. Boom mic headsets when traveling just look....awkward 🙃
