GPU doesn't seem to work after install

Well, the good news is that it's a software problem, your hardware is fine. The bad news is it's gonna be annoying to fix unless you just want to reinstall windows, which might end up being the solution.
As Blasty said, boot in safemode, run DDU.

100% reinstall Windows, IMO.

Drivers have gotten so complicated with all the "features" it's just not worth any potential headaches, as DDU is struggling to keep pace these days it seems.

Hi. I've put it a new GPU (MSI GeForce RTX 5060 8GB) on a B450M motherboard with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 500W Seasonic PSU.

After I booted it up, it worked for a few minutes (was just ready to install my NVIDIA drivers), and then the windows disconnect chime went on and poof. Nothing. Disconnected

Now, every time I try to boot it up, my boot screen comes on, the Windows 11 loading screen gets stuck a bit, and then the computer boots into Windows with no video output. It seems to boot, though, because I can hear system sounds and notifications.

Any ideas on how I can fix it? What could be the issue?

Thanks

Quick update: I have placed my old card back in, I've run DDU, deleted the old drivers, and placed the new one back in again. It still has the same issue. I'll reinstall windows and I'll let y'all know how it goes

what a weird issue. I've installed windows, windows installer ran perfectly fine, I finished everything, and pretty much the same thing happened the moment it went into windows. how the hell is this possible? what could I be doing wrong?

Dumb questions first:  Are you plugged into the right output?

What was the old GPU?

Check BIOS for output, I usually disable Onboard GPU/Graphics so it can't default to mobo.

It may not be Windows, but the card not handling the installed driver or even the Windows default driver well.  Could be the card itself, not sure.

yep, right output and everything. the very weird thing is that it posts, I can enter the BIOS with no problem. windows installer ran flawlessly. the moment it needs to go into desktop, though, it goes black. I restart it, it posts, it gets past the mobo screen, then nothing.

I don't think it can default to mobo if I'm plugged directly into the GPU. I'll disable it just to be sure.

the old GPU was a Radeon RX 550 2gb that I was using just so I can use the PC until this new one came

Are you running Windows 11 or 10?

update: apparently, after reinstalling windows, the last thing I did was let my PC go into Automatic Repair. that, for some reason. fixed it. I was able to boot into Windows and even played a bit of Resident Evil 3 after installing the drivers and everything.

Thank you all for replying!
