High performance is usually more stable and can help with performance, reduce latency, fix stutterings.

It does use somewhat more power though, as the CPU will not go too deep in its C-states.

I don't know how well Balanced power works with AMD, especially a high performance one like yours.

You can test them yourself. Monitor the power draws and temperatures when idle and during load. Do benchmarks, play games.

Hey guys, which power plan should i use on my 9800x3D? Balanced or High performance? There are two options: one control panel and other one in classic windows 11 settings. thanks

At least for the Windows power plan settings: High Performance always for desktops and when plugged into AC power for laptops. The only time I'll use the Balanced power plan is when on battery power for laptops.

For Ryzen balanced is recommended and I found also the most stable with least hiccups throughout like, 4 different Ryzen CPUs..

I will NEVER use another power setting because I kinda like stability and performance... 🤷

It's a placebo effect because if you do this for benchmarks you'll get better scores, but IRL scenarios you will run hotter and experience more hiccups, throttling and wear...
