Thoughts on my build?

Go to solution Solved by whispous,

I think you've chosen well for your specific use case, but I would recommend picking some faster ram. 6000mt minimum.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

SSD: SAMSUNG SSD 512GB M.2 NVMe 4.0x4 write: 6000mb/s read:5600mb/s

RAM: XPG ADATA DDR5-5600 32GB (16x2)

GPU: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 6700 XT OC D6 12GB

Motherboard: ASUS B650

Cooler: ARTIC Liquid Freezer III PRO 240

Power: Segotep BN850W

Case: Fractal Design Pop Air Solid

Purpose:

First time pc builder here. The most important thing is the CPU because I run many simulations that's multi-threaded and extremely CPU intensive that needs many cores/threads. GPU isn't that important. I don't play heavy games except Stronghold Definitive Edition and watch YouTube in 4k. I also don't use that much storage so I've settled on a 512GB instead. I also don't care much for the aesthetics, just the raw performance. What I worry most is the cooling as I will be overclocking my CPU so I dunno if a ARTIC Liquid Freezer III PRO 240 will be sufficient.

I'd like to know your thoughts and opinions on this optimized custom build.

You could put a 280mm radiator in the front of the case or a big air cooler up to a height of 170 mm.

Then the question is why is there a x3d chip? Its more expensive and not faser than the regular 9950x for sim tasks normally. Usually a bit slower.

Also @Why_Me 's got a good question as its hard to evaluate it without that info.

Also what are the prices on the parts? A 6700xt is old is this used?

I want the fastest CPU for my CPU intensive multi-threaded simulations. New 6700 XT
