If you have 2 SSDs do they have to be in some sort of RAID?

Nope, you can just have them formatted as a normal drive.

Nope. They don't have to be at all. I have a 120gb vertex 3 a 64gb agility 2 and a 600gb velociraptor. Yay for mismatching!

For Raid 5+6 It's better to get a raid card.

But Raid 1+2, it should be fine.
