A few months ago I bought some new, outdated for many, parts including a 14th gen Intel CPU and a B760 motherboard, for a new build using 16GB DDR4 and a 250GB SATA SDD I had and the iGPU. Does this make sense to anyone else besides myself?

Today, new 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 would cost around 200$/€ and 32GB 6000MHZ DDR5 around 500$/€. How much justified is the difference in price?

I still have working 2nd, 3rd and 4rd gen Intel CPUs. Would it be too much to expect the same longevity from the system I built?

Why are you getting memory at all? Didn't it come with 16GB? Seems fine.

I don't see any reason why the CPU itself shouldn't outlive you unless it's mistreated. I expect pretty much everything to fail before the CPU as long as there is no physical damage

what do you do with the pc? if its only got an igpu?

Everyday work, such as office applications, browsing internet, video streaming and editing, compressing etc. Surprised how well UHD Graphics 770 work currently at 2560 x 1440, 165Hz Hz.

i think as time gos there alot more stuff going on in the pc. os having more going on and slows the system down then you need faster parts to speed it up. and nothing is op demised just thow more power at it fix.

also you change habits long time ago you probably didn't have alot of tabs going and now there people that keep many tabs open for w/e... and also come down to browser and how well its used or made.

things on the net also upscaled. pics or pixes and videos more resolution as well as things auto play. ai also thinking on each time you scroll each time the links or videos change.

other things like updates making it slower and so on.

who knows maybe your be doing office work in vr... down the road. or just ai doing it...

if you try something fastest your brain will make your old thing seem slower

now the moble seen is getting faster and faster  and well solder cpus, ram can be faster is sorta replacing basic computers on cost to preformace.

will the cpu last 20 years who knows in theory it should but newer stuff fails more offen. 20 years is a long time thow... some software will make your parts not work way before they fail is the new trend.

oh look at the super fast word 2.0 oh you don't have windows 20 to dam bad. windows 19 came out 6 moths ago... way over the top but you get what i mean.

im using a 9370 fx and it works just fine for youtube, word or w/e els. some light gaming too. i can feel the lag in minecraft compared to my 6600k but your be surprised.

point is things can change.

for video editing people want it faster and if the time save is worth the price people upgrade based on  that alone more so if you make money with it. to me im like ok i can render at night on a second slower pc but just depends i guess.

I have dyslexia plz be kind to me. dont like my post dont read it or respond thx

also i edit post alot because you no why...
