Hello i have kingston nv2 2tb ssd and lately my computer almost stops working and in manager i see disk isnon 100% usage but nothing is using it or it displays no or barely any write and read. This problems stops sometimes after few mins sometimes hours sometimes restart helps. Crystal disk and kingston ssd software show everything is allright. Any sugestions how to solve this please?IMG_0779.thumb.jpeg.713c7963a8dd6b16fc94b5019d79863e.jpeg

Cheap SSDs are like that unfortunately, QLC NAND combined with no DRAM cache and somewhat of a horrible controller results in problems like these.

I may be a little late to the party, but here's my take on the issue.

First, you should backup any important data. That advice is good for any drives anytime because you should always keep a backup.

Second, it may be a drive dying but it may also be Windows hallucinating. The indexing service is one thing that may cause this behavior, the Windows Defender anti-virus and anti-malware scan may cause this too. It may also be drivers or major windows files corruption.

What to do ? Try using your drive in a usb adapter or another computer to see if it behaves the same way.

Another test is to boot from a Linux live USB stick and see if the drive still runs at full utilization.

In rare cases, a BIOS upgrade and clearing the CMOS memory may help. But like I said, rarely.

Your best bet is probably wiping the drive and installing a fresh Windows on your computer.

Hope that helps !

The internet is rife with this exact complaint and NV2's. They're widely known as being a garbage drive, especially if you get one of the QLC models and a buggy controller. This particular drive has been part swapped more than any drive i'm aware of you never know what you're going to get.

Just look at how many variants there are.

All NV2 users (plenty more where that comes from)

The only "fix" for people is wiping it and starting over, but then it'll just happen again. Replace it completely for a boot drive.
