You don't understand, your motherboard is fine,

It should at least push your Ram to 5600,

Update your bios, get smarter

(and even if you can't do it, changing motherboard won't change performance much)

I got an Intel i5-14400F, planning to upgrade the motherboard which is a gigabyte h610 v2, any recommendations for what i can use?
planning one from ASUS preferably, thanks

In order to recommend an "upgrade" we need to know what you either find lacking on your current machine, or want more of on the new one.

`So you can't say why you need an upgrade, but just want one... for no reason?`

I was just about to reply to you about your post lacking the upgrade but i'll do it here

I've seen the features on ASUS motherboards and it looks to me better, BIOS look is easier to understand since i used to have a laptop with an ASUS motherboard, also XMP doesn't work on my motherboard, my ram is at 4800 while its a 6000
EDIT: my bad for saying “doesn’t work”, its actually clocked at 4800

A bios is basically a one time use thing. Just srt it and forget it. Swapping a board is just rebuilding a pc basically again.

Also asus laptop bioses and desktops are VERY different.

Sounds like just taking 10m to look up how to set xmp properly would help.

As far as I know when XMP is set, if it doesn't work then the system doesn't boot or is unstable,

You saying "max is 4800" makes me think you did something wrong,

Try to update the bios

Or is the chipset H610 limited to 4800 ? similar boards from other manuf seem to show otherwise...

I assume that you are talking about the K version with DDR5 and not the H version with DDR4?

Their naming scheme is an absolute mess, you will need to be more specific with which board you have.

Memory limit same with K ver.

@vaso.

I agree with what others have said, BIOS is rarely accessed for most users.
In fact I daresay that the one accessing it often is people doing troubleshooting, or extreme overclocking.

I'd say just pick the cheapest motherboard that supports your other parts (CPU, RAM, Drives), unless there is some features that you need / want for some reason.

Example : Minimum 6x USB Type-A rear I/O, etc.

Unless it's a "budget doesnt really matter I want the flair" thing.

But yeah, no matter which, we still need a budget to find you one, so let people know your budget.

-------

Also, its good to also give people your ram details.

Like which model and model number, so people can actually check some stuffs related to it.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

The thing that got me was that he said that he was limited to 4800. The board that you posted goes to 5600.

Hence why I asked OP to give his memory model number, just in case.
