Anyone else notice that Watch Dogs uses up EVERY resource you have?

Donimater2

When i check MSI Afterburner after playing the game i notice how bad the game is on a technical level,

My specs:

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£155.99 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler:  Scythe Ashura 97.2 CFM CPU Cooler  (£34.99 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard:  MSI Z87-G43 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£79.99 @ Aria PC)
Storage:  Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£54.99 @ Amazon UK)
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  (£35.94 @ Aria PC)
Video Card:  MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card  (£204.34 @ Scan.co.uk)
Case:  NZXT H440 (Red/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  (£89.99 @ CCL Computers)
Power Supply:  Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  (£49.93 @ CCL Computers)
Operating System:  Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)  (£133.13 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £899.20
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I was playing the game and i went to MSI afterburner after a 2 hour session and i saw that the game seems to use up 100% of your RAM, GPU and CPU.
This surely must be dangerous for your PC? My temps stayed low luckily but who knows what would of happened to people running the Intel stock cooler.

It's not classed as a virus.

If you want to play the game, restart your PC and then uninstall the pirated one and buy it.

Of course, if you pirate games, shit will happen, it's the way the cookie crumbles. People don't get something for nothing.

Compatible with Windows 95

That's why 'let's play (insert game title)' is a thing on YouTube. If you aren't sure about the game, watch a play through of a chapter or two or watch TotalBuiscuits review.

There's really no excuse to pirate a game. (I don't have anything against pirating any mainstream software, such as MS Office, Sony Vegas, Adobe CS6, etc that I would never be able to justify spending £100's on.)

You downloaded a pirated copy of the game, and then you complain that its bad at a technical level, without even realizing that it has a miner in it?

Good job mate.. Good job.

Youtube reviews can come in handy.. Literally every game that I've ever seem on Steam has had at least one review on youtube, so there is absolutely no reason to either buy a bad game or download a pirated copy to "try it out"..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Understandable, but you gotta remember the risks you take when pirating. I'm neutral about it, But 9 times out of 10, big programs and games usually come with... unwanted extras in pirated copies. I hope you learned a lesson (not as a slap on the wrist, but to be more careful). Needs before wants, my friend. Your computer NEEDS to stay safe and clean, before you WANT to try a game for free before buying. Keep that in mind. I hope your system is okay.

If you were a sensible pirate this would never have happened, when you go on TPB if the ULer doesn't have a little 'Trusted' or 'VIP' skill don't download it.

Also don't trust ^^nosTEAM^^ (I bet it was one of the early ones of those you grabbed.)

Theres no bitcoin hack is their?

Yeah that's real, they've all been removed now but it was genuine that some of the early torrents for watch dogs came with a bitcoin mining app so send coins to the ULer.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a573318/watch-dogs-torrent-installing-bitcoin-miner-on-pcs.html#~oGvT4Z60OgNag0

Watch dogs is a poorly optimized mess in addition to this though, so maybe the ULer thought this would help disguise his software running lol
