This is my current build: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/txkTzy

I'm a beginner to all this computer stuff and I'm wondering... What should go in the HDD and what should go in the SSD for GAMING and best, maximum FPS purposes...

There's nothing else to say. Pretty simple question that I'm asking.

Thanks in advance!

For the best performance, you should set it up like this:

1. Windows/linux/OS X/OS/2 Warp/DOS/whatever goes on the SSD

2. Your favorite games should go on the SSD if they can fit on there.

3. your files/non important programs should go on the HDD.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11

hdd is for high storage capacity, ssd for fast access storage,

they make no difference in gaming fps

your setup looks nice to me

weird choice for a case?

I'm in love with the looks of it, hahah. Also as far as I know, It's one of the best cases for air flow on the market right now and it's not too costy.

all the programs like Music player, winrar, steam and stuff go on the SSD along with the OS of course.

Make sure to re-map the download folder to your HDD aswell as the default installation folder for steam.

Big data should go onto the HDD ofc.

The only other stuff that I'd put on the SSD are games with long loading times in single player.

who cares...

What about multiplayer, lol?

What do you mean re-map? I'm new to all this... I will be using either Windows 7 or Windows 8.

In multiplayer, the loading times are a lot of the time not related to your PC's speed. In games like Skyrim though, you can experience some long loading times, especially when you mod it heavily.

re-maping the downlaod folder is easy. http://www.windowstipspage.com/move-downloads-folder-location-windows-7/

that way your SSD won't get filled up so quickly. YOu should re-map your "music" "documents" "video" folders accordingly.

who cares...

Well it is the mustard of cases, but seeing as you will be sitting next to it for the rest of the foreseeable future might as well buy something aesthetically pleasing to yourself.

Sounds good...

But yet again, what is re-maping? My native language is not English so I get confused at times...

What do you mean mustard of cases? Hahah.

But yes, it's aesthetically pleasing to myself compared to 70% of the cases out there... and it's a pretty beginner friendly case.

It means that you locate your download folder onto your HDD. re-maping = giving it a different location.

I'm not too familiar with that... How does it work exactly? What if I have a Windows 7 / Windows 8 CD already? or am I not talking about the right thing?

You right-click on your download folder, click properties and there you can see where it is located. by default it's C:/Users/User/Downloads and you can change it to anything you want like D:/Downloads

Then all your downloads get saved on your HDD instead of your SSD.

who cares...

Well, it's not even built nor do I have a single piece yet...

But... What If I wanna start from scratch? What if I already have a Windows 7/8 CD to install the OS?

I'm looking at How to properly configure the SSD as boot drive and HDD as storage drive right now... Pretty confusing stuff.

Wait until you have the PC.

When you go through the installing process of windows 7 or 8, you get to choose which drive you want to install your OS on.

You can then also configre which drive to boot from in the BIOS if it doesn't work by itself.

Edit: when you're done installing windows, you will mostl likeley have to format the space on your HDD and configure it as a logic drive in windows. it's not difficult, you can google it once you're at that step.

who cares...
