Hello all,

A work colleague is looking to upgrade his pc.
he purchased an Acer Aspire|X XC-895 a couple of years ago.

He wants to do some gaming on it but is currently limited to onboard graphics, he’s recently upgraded the ram (luckily before the spike), he has just purchased a low profile 3050. However the system came with a 180W power supply.
It has a 4pin and 6pin cable.

Could someone advise where we could get a 300w or higher PSU for this system please?
standard power supplies can be an option providing there’s a safe adapter that can be used.

based in the UK

Thank You

Thats within 75w limit normally and shouldnt have a extra psu connector so just plug it in.

Does not exist. These boxes are proprietary and better to replace than upgrade due to sifficulty and cost involved

Like Jaslion said, no pay upgrade but you shouldn't need a supplemental cable for that card. It looks like it's a 10th gen i3 so it should be able to stay under 180w. Worst case is having to lower the power limit for the card a little but I doubt it.

I agree with others saying you should be fine. But if you do want a new PSU, I'd recommend at least 550W as most good manufacturers don't go lower than that.
As for potentially needing to use an adapter, I wouldn't worry. Those ATX/molex connectors are CHONK and nearly bombproof, even a sketchy DIY adapter will be safe at those power levels

I’m aware the gpu doesn’t require an independent power cable. It is a 10th gen i5.

just wanted to check to see if there was a larger PSU we could switch the current one out for. Just for peace of mind really.

Huh, the model number only showed i3 when I looked it up... Sometimes model numbers can be funny on proprietary systems like this. But there still won't be a standard upgrade, maybe a used one from the same system that shipped with better specs, but they shipped it with 180w because you'll never be able to fit more draw than that without modding.

You'd need a 10600k to be a problem with a 75w card and that's accounting for motherboard, a couple SSDs, and finding a torture test that will push your CPU, RAM, GPU, and Storage to their limits at the same time.
