9800X3D Undervolt, Overclock

Go to solution Solved by DazzerJ97,

Appreciate the input guys, of course it's working. I was just curious as to whether that was expected behaviour. As I've mentioned I'm new to this, having tested everything since this post it seems it's stable, so I shall leave it at that 😊

Okay, So I'm new to all this overclocking and under volting, so bare with me. I had tried -25 co +200mhz prior to this and it practically insta crashed in Aida64 (was stressing FPU as well) So dialed it back down to -20 +200mhz, PBO Scaler is set to x1 (don't want to risk x10) Basically I'm wondering is this okay, and expected behavior?

Power limits are still set to auto.

Specs as follows:

AMD Ryzen 9800X3D

MSI B850 Tomahawk Wifi

Idk but you have to try it out ... for example my 3600 was like -50mv (I don't recall the exact value, was early days of PBO, but it was def negative) and then the thing was +200mhz did almost nothing (except using large amounts of power) but -200mhz made it perform like 10% better, used even more power (130w) but ran much cooler...

(which makes sense because the cooler it runs the higher it can boost)

When you say test, do you mean you ran Prime95 or similar program to check for calculation errors? Because you do need to do that when you undervolt or overclock. Those kinds of errors can corrupt your data, it's not just the computer crashing

Prime95, Aida64, Cinebench etc. Also running games for an extended period to check for stability
