i tried disabling the updates and run the newest drivers and booted a game to a crash.

Then maybe you got some corrupted Windows files.

When did you reinstall Windows the last time ?

I have been having non stop driver timeouts for a 9070xt that i just got and cannot figure it out. I have tried to use older ones and it works for a while but the will force a update and start the crashing again. I also just tired reinstalling the newest one and was the same issue as before the version i got to work for a while was 25.8.1 and anything after that ive been having issues with that. DDU installer doesn't seem to do anything and at this point i don't know what else i can do. Please help.

try to disable windows automatic updates, Microsoft seems to really dislike AMD graphics drivers. I used to have tons of timeouts and issues on my 7800xt, but once i disabled automatic drivers it stopped having issues.

Windows seems to really like and roll back your drivers and ends up breaking things.

AMD isn't bad; it's just that they aren't immune to mistakes. And drivers happen to be "not their best" area.
Install the latest stable driver for you. Then do some Win haX to exclude the GPU from Windows' update.

are you saying to uninstall and reinstall the older one?

What version should i use?

You should use latest drivers from AMD but disable Windows automatic updates so Windows won't break the AMD drivers.

Frankly, I had more problems with Nvidia GPUs than AMD. They both had their hiccups but from what I seen, AMD is trying harder to fix things. I lack experience with Intel ARC but I heard that they too have some issues...

Never seen this behavior before out of Adrenaline. Gotta be something mis-configured or you've allowed something I'm not familiar with. It will not initiate a driver install unless you click the button to do so.

well i may have worked for some people but didnt for me

Windows had an update on December 9th that also addresses the AMD crash issue. Windows 11 KB5072033 another thing that can be an issue. AMD Crash Defender Service can actually cause a crash. Like others have said. Do not use Windows driver updates. You can do a manual driver update. So disable Windows driver updates or Windows will automatically download and install an older driver. Even after you did a manual update.

If you got a card around release, might not hurt to see if the manufacturer has updated the vbios for it. It's not uncommon to see the vbios for a card updated many times in the first year or so after release. Most often a few times in the first months as well.

I'd reseat the card, DDU then install the latest drivers with the currently recommended step of disabling driver updates entirely.

Are you sure it’s the drivers or GPU?

AMD Adrenaline SW will throw out the notification even if the instability occurs due to RAM or CPU.

Can you test those as well?

any notifcation that occurs will say driver time out the only fix ive found is a different version for the driver nothing else works
