Hello, my uncle wants to buy me a NAS as a gift, and i am the one choosing. I was looking at the Orico 1-bay products, but i see negative comments on the youtube shorts for the products, but that was the ideal price range for me ($120 or less). Now I'm looking at the Asustor Driverstor 2 AS1102T the 2-bay version, and that is the one i am considering the most (i find the jump from $120 to $185 huge as someone being from a third world country and all). Its a little more pricey than the other ones, but I think I can explain properly why I think that would be a better purchase. I know that the ideal ones are the UGREEN ones, I'm leaning more towards the UGREEN NASync DXP2800, but the budget is not mine to call. There is no specific budget, but I need to be considerate and don't want the price to be a burden to them as i have already received a lot from them. I did mention the Orico brand prices as the starting price but i dont think i want to consider them anymore. I like computers and am somewhat of an enthusiast, but I am not adept at the nitty-gritty, so I watched youtube videos, and the brand Asustor popped up in one of the videos I was watching.  I am currently watching a review for the Asustor Driverstor 2 AS1102T, but with my limited knowledge, there will be things that i will not truly grasp even when i watch that video, and that's where you guys come in. Now the main question is, is the Asustor Driverstor 2 AS1102T a good buy for me? If not, is there a good alternative for me that is under $200? Also, please do check it with me if the other alternatives are available in my country's online shopping apps

Here are my use cases for it. I make YouTube videos and i have an external SSD to store my recordings and exports. It was a 1tb drive and i have it filled with 303GB of storage and 136 of those are DaVinci Resolve proxy media files, and I have more than 500 recordings in that, excluding exported videos so use that information as you will. I also put my thumbnails in that drive. I would also like to put my 67gb if Anime episodes in there (more of a manga reader, that's why the amount is low) and move some files in there. So i barely have 500gb of files but that would increase in the future as i create more videos in the future but it would take a while for that

God Bless to anyone properly answering my questions. Thank you

P.S. The videos are recorded and exported in 1080p

P.S. If not $200, is there for $250? I hope it doesn't come to that

I received word from my IT graduate friends and they said no. And i also received word from my uncle, it is not on our budget range, anything higher than $180, but an alternative is a 2tb internal storage storage

With that low of  budget, just get more storage for the PC. If you need access by other computers, use network sharing.

Agreed!

Even a 2 bay NAS is poor value when it comes to storage vs redundancy. The only 2 options are RAID 0 and 1, neither of which are viable / cost effective solutions.

I would buy a regular HDD plus a USB enclosure for portability.
