What model UPS do you have now? What kind of "trouble" have you been having with it? Have you tried replacing its batteries?

I have a 650-2000 Pro Aviem UPS that is 5+ years old.

It feels like it's not working properly since when I had a power spike outage this week my whole system shutdown with the UPS doing its intended job..

I want to replace it to something new.

Haven't tried replacing the batteries but since it's old and was mainly used on an older PC, I rather get a new one..

Yeah, your batteries are dead. A new set will solve your problem for a lot less than a whole new equivalent UPS will cost. Don't worry about its age; I've run 20+ year old UPSes with new batteries.

If you really want to replace the whole unit, I can't say enough good things about APC's Back-UPS Pro and Smart-UPS lines. I have less experience with CyberPower, and generally don't like the much smaller units that look like fat surge protectors no matter who the manufacturer is.

I have two Back-UPS Pro 1500s, one for the modem and entertainment center, and one on the main PC setup.

You might be tempted by power stations like the latest generation from EcoFlow, but those won't do power conditioning. They'll pass noisy, dirty power and brownouts through to your equipment until the voltage dips below its cutoff.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Thing is from what I read online my current UPS isn't strong enough for my current setup, that's another reason why I was leaning towards a new and more powerful UPS rather than new batteries.

Will the Apc back UPS pro 1500 be enough for my setup?

If it draws more than 860 watts, probably not.

I'm in the US, where our wall circuits are 120v at generally 15 amps. If you're not, you'll have to see what models are available locally. A 2200VA unit should more than cover it.

You weren't getting any really annoying alarms beeping because of the battery? Usually alarms start sounding if the battery is going bad.

That's relative though.

It depends on what hardware you have plugged into the battery supported outlets, generally just the PC and monitor(s) and how long of battery run-time you need.

For some reason a lot of people think that a UPS means you can keep gaming for a couple hours if the power goes out.

No, that is not the intended purpose of a UPS. A UPS is meant to provide you enough time to save work then shut the system down cleanly.

Most UPS's only offer minutes of battery runtime determined mainly by the wattage draw of the components. If you want hours of runtime, you're going to spend a LOT of $$$$$ for it.

But you already know that I assume.

CyberPower has a commercial touting how you can keep doing whatever with their UPS,...bullshit, maybe for a few minutes.

True, though my 5950x/4090 rig only pulls 700 full slammed

5950X/4090FE primary rig  |  1920X/1070Ti Unraid for dockers  |  200TB TrueNAS w/ 1:1 backup

No alarms no. Just started beeping after failing to protect the system when the outage occurred.

Also, I'm aware UPS is for 5-15m power support to be able to shut down safely, not intending on gaming via UPS when power is out.

Will a 1600watt/2000va suffice or do you recommend a stronger one?

I think APC has a tool on their website where you put in the amount of draw you expect and it can calculate what size UPS you need.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
