I'm currently on Ivy bridge and realise it is perfectly fine but will sell my current rig to my parents at some point and building myself a new one. So do I go for haswell refresh this summer or wait until next summer and go with broadwell? I realise no one has a crystal ball but what are the expected improvements/rumours with broadwell?

No point in upgrading from ivy or sandy, its still kicking hard and strong.

I for one am waiting for Sky Lake.

If I had an ivy cpu I would skip Haswell entirely and wait for Broadwell patiently.

personally the better upgrade will be GPU instead

you won't net better performance with CPU and mobo upgrade

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Stay on Ivy if you've still got your rig up until Broadwell, I know I will be.

If its as small as a change as ivy to haswell was I wont be changing for a loooong time after broadwell.

I got a nice chip, can hit 4.8ghz at a safe voltage (although currently only 4ghz)
