Hi. So I built my first pc ever, and I was trying to install windows. It's been stuck at 62% for 6h. Is there any way to actually get this thing to install? My PC is currently just a 1200 dollar paperweight. I should also mention that whenever I try installing windows (through rufus or through regular media), as soon as it gets to 42%, the fans get REALLY loud and windows never installs. It's actually distressing. Idk if my ssd failed or what.

Where are we starting from? Did you use media creation tool, or are we starting from scratch? (Do you have access to a functional Windows PC?)

Ok so from my old laptop (current daily driver until pc gets up and running), I created a windows installation media thing onto a usb flash drive (64 gb so capacity is fine, fat32 format). I then plugged it into one of my usb ports and booted it up

have you considered coming to the linux side? 😄

jokes to the side, what's the main issue? does the windows installer not recognize your nvme/disk? there are for sure disk drivers on your manufacturer's product support page.

@StartingPCBuiilder re-make your USB with rufus and try again, the issue is probably on the media creation tool side

If I knew the main issue, there wouldn't be a post.

from the media creation tool instead of "using a usb device" you can download the iso of windows 11, while it downloads you can download rufus from here and look into how it works:

Tried with Rufus. Same result. What happens is that at 42%, the fans IMMEDIATELY go to 100%. And then it never installs.
