If you want more performance(in my case from unplayable 15fps to a steady 25-27) download OptiFine and put it in the mods folder

So I am guessing I can get around 12 FPS on my 290X+3570k with these mods? Or am I hoping for too much here?

Not really, i can get arround 15fps with my igpu and no optifine, i am sure you can get 60+fps with both mods installed. Because optifine really speeds up minecraft.

optimistic my 780 TI gets around 30-45 FPS with the shaders installed and Minecraft does not like AMD stuff most of the time.

it jumps around a bit, but it's playable

but my card is like 4 years old so there's that

idk this is on massive servers though so I am expecting FPS lag.

OP that is horrendous looking.  These mods have no place in Minecraft.  It should look NOT real.
