1440p

Demonicreature

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a 1440p monitor but I have an ASUS G75VX laptop with a Quad Core i7 and a GTX 670MX and I mainly game and watch movies and videos and I want to ask, will my GTX670MX be fine for 1440p? I don't need all on Ultra, I'm fine on medium or high and of course without AA. Also, why is the Dell U2413 the same price as the Dell U2713HM?

Just play at native resolution like 1080p or 900p and use the 1440p monitor for moves and stuff. Your 670m can't push it. Hell a regular 670 could barely do it.

Nope, you will not have good frame rates at 1440p with a GTX670MX. Go 1080p IPS instead.

I do love playing games at 1440p and it really helps when doing work on the desktop

However I plug my laptop in to my monitor via hdmi and it runs at 1080p, while desktop stuff isnt nice, gaming at 1080p is perfect fine at 27", its just horrible for desktop use

SO. get a 1440p monitor, you can use 1440p for web browsing, desktop work etc, and just run your games at 1080p for better performance, 1080p gaming on a 1440p monitor is just like running it on a 1080p display. Honestly its not that bad.

Then if you ever get a new laptop/desktop you have a future proof monitor

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

That.. is actually a great idea. I've not decided yet but I think I can put 1440p monitors into consideration now, thanks.

I actually got the dell Dell UH2713HM two days ago. If you can afford it it's definately worth it.

The colour depth on this one is fantastic and it feels solid. (Only ships with a dual link DVI though so that's worth keeping in mind)

I interpreted your "magnificent" as the design of the monitor, not the resolution, thousand apologies..

Its actually way out of my price range but I guess I can try to save up for it if I want it eventually..

No worries i had to do it for a while and still occasionally do, i was going to get a display port cable to run my laptop at 1440p but it wouldnt cope well as 1080p seems to be its peak so I still use it at 1080p. the desktop is a tiny but blurry though usable but if you keep yours doing 1440p for desktop and games that it CAN handle, and use 1080p for higher end games youll be ok. since the monitor will outlast your computer, maybe your next pc will handle 1440p better

its probably the best current resolution. 4k has terrible scaling issues and makes the desktop too small and is too hard to run, and 1080p above say 22" starts looking poo

27" 1440 IPS masterrace :P

btw my monitor is the AOC Q2770PQU, PLS 1440p monitor, come witha  great stand with pivot height and rotation adjustable, usb 3 hub and a charging port built in, dvi, hdmi display port and audio pass through, was not expensive either

1 question, my G75VX has a thunderbolt port, it can act as a mini displayport right?

Nah it's a good monitor, and you should consider it, they make a 23' model too.

or do the 1440p for web browsing and 1080p for gaming thing (which is a better idea)
